Do you want locally raised beef, but only certain parts? Crowdcow lets you buy those parts, and when all available parts are sold the cow is slaughtered and the parts delivered.
“A Seattle startup has come up with a unique solution to locally-sourced meats without buying a restaurant-sized freezer — crowdsourcing a cow.
“On Crowdcow.com, customers can pick specific cuts of meat from a specific kind of cow and a specific local rancher. The cow is divided up into roughly 50 shares. When all of the shares have been purchased, the cow is butchered, packaged and barcoded to track the cow and the ranch the cuts came from. The meat is then shipped in cold storage boxes to the buyer.”
